About Rosy
The foundation work on this damline was painstakingly put together by a former colleague and breeder Darren McKenzie….. it is his line and a credit to him. He started with a ¾ sister to the immortal chaser Worth Doing named Emma's Advice and bred her to Gatton Prince, the brother of hall-of-fame bitch Tenthill Doll.  Gatton Belle, a daughter from that mating, was then bred to Australia's greatest stakes winner Rapid Journey. The best pup to race from this mating was Some Joe who raced with much success in both Australia and New Zealand where he broke the Auckland 527m track record. Drop Dead Pretty, a litter sister of Some Joe, was selected for immediate breeding and whelped her first litter at 25 months using imported frozen semen from champion US sire Grey's Statesman.

Grey's Statesman was the best son of US hall-of-fame brood Representation, the foundation bitch of the famous Greymeadows breeding farm in Abilene, Kansas. He sired Talentedmrripley, the best greyhound in the US in both 2001 and 2002. His daughters have produced champions like WW Apple Jax and Fortified Rush. His damline has also produced Grey's Calibrator winner of the world's richest open race, the 2006 Derby Lane US$1 million.

My involvement was in the selection of a suitable sire, all negotiations to acquire the only uncommitted straw of Grey's Statesman semen in Australia and handling of Drop Dead Pretty for progesterone testing and implanting. The challenge was to find what was considered to be the best available sire anywhere in the world for her. I choose Grey's Statesman primarily based on the pedigrees of his two best progeny Talentedmrripley and Oneco Burntoast. I believed a crucial element of their success was the crossing of two Sally's Gossip lines via Share Profit and You Genius. Rapid Journey also carries a Sally's Gossip line via Curryhill Brute. Whilst Rapid Journey has not been an outstanding success at stud his best son Toll Security has proven that doubling up on the Sally's Gossip line works.  It is a formula which has achieved great success all around the world.

Star Spangled (Rosy) and Attache (Flip) were my share of the deal. Sadly two other bitches from the litter owned by Darren met with tragedy while being reared. I offered him one of mine but he declined and since then we have gone separate ways. In time I hope this line flourishes and he gets appropriate recognition and satisfaction for his efforts.

Choosing Bombastic Shiraz as the first sire for both Flip and Rosy was not a difficult choice. Both damlines have the great Zimbabwe as their 5th dam. World breeders should also note that Zimbabwe is the dam of Double Summit, the damsire of Top Honcho who has been the dominant Irish breeding of the 21st century. Bombastic Shiraz has an impeccable pedigree, being a son of the great Black Shiraz and his damsire is the mighty Malawi's Prince. For good measure his damline carries Mandolin whose bottom line traces directly to Sally's Gossip.
